PM Modi Honors The Legacy Of Mahatma Gandhi And Lal Bahadur Shastri On Their Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the birth anniversaries of two towering figures in Indian history, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, with solemn tributes affirming their enduring legacy and India’s commitment to their vision of a self-reliant and developed nation.

 

Remembering The Father of the Nation

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, PM Modi visited Raj Ghat in New Delhi to pay floral homage to Mahatma Gandhi, the pioneer of non-violent resistance and the visionary who galvanized India’s freedom struggle. Highlighting Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, courage, and compassion, the Prime Minister reiterated India's pledge to uphold these principles in the collective quest to build a Viksit Bharat. Gandhi Jayanti, celebrated globally as the International Day of Non-Violence, continues to inspire movements for peace and justice worldwide.

 

Honouring The Nation’s Steadfast Leader

PM Modi also paid homage at Vijay Ghat to Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister, remembered for his humility, integrity, and decisive leadership during challenging times. Born in 1904, Shastri’s legacy of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ remains a rallying call celebrating the valor of soldiers and the hard work of farmers. Modi described Shastri as an extraordinary statesman whose leadership strengthened India’s resolve and continues to motivate efforts to build a strong and self-reliant nation.
