PM Modi to Strengthen India-Sri Lanka Ties with April Visit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to visit Sri Lanka early April, his fourth visit to the island nation since 2015. The visit is aimed at signing agreements that were discussed when President Anura Kumara Dissanayake made a visit to India last year, on cooperation in the energy sector, infrastructure development, and regional security. The key highlights include the inauguration of the Sampur solar power plant, a 135 MW project that is being assisted by India's NTPC and Sri Lanka's Ceylon Electricity Board. Several new MoUs are also expected to be signed, deepening bilateral collaboration.

The visit underscores India's commitment to its "Neighbourhood First" policy, putting emphasis on strategic relationships in the Indian Ocean.
