Putin Launches 'Intervision' to Challenge Eurovision as Global Music Contest

Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially decreed the creation of Intervision, a new international music competition aimed at rivaling Eurovision. Set to debut in Moscow this year, the contest has already garnered interest from over 25 countries, including BRICS nations and Latin American participants. Deputy PM Dmitry Chernyshenko will lead the organizing committee, while domestic policy chief Sergei Kiriyenko chairs the supervisory board. The initiative comes after Russia's Eurovision ban in 2022, with China reportedly backing this cultural counterweight.
