Ramadan 2025: Global Moon Sighting Unites Muslims in Rare Celestial Event

Muslims around the world are getting ready for an extraordinary Ramadan in 2025 as the sighting of the crescent moon will fall on February 28. On a rare phenomenon, nations from all parts of the globe will see the moon on the same night, hopefully beginning Ramadan on March 1. This comes about about every 33 years. The Saudi Arabian Supreme Court as well as committees for moon sight in other countries have urged the Muslims to hunt for the crescent. When seen, Ramadan will commence from March 1; otherwise, it will commence from March 2. It is this cohesive event that develops a feeling of oneness for the Muslim diaspora across the world, given the religious essence of the Islamic calendar based on the lunar phases.
