RBI Chief Affirms Strong Banking Metrics as Credit-Deposit Ratio Hits 80.8%

The Reserve Bank of India's Governor has confirmed robust health indicators across the banking sector, with particular emphasis on the strength of non-banking institutions. The credit-deposit ratio reached 80.8% by January-end 2025, reflecting active lending activities in the system. This elevated ratio, while indicating strong credit growth, comes amid a scenario where lending grew at 11.4% year-on-year compared to deposit growth of 10.3%. The healthy system parameters suggest stable financial conditions despite the moderate slowdown in credit offtake expected in FY25.
