RedNote’s Rise: How a Chinese App is Winning Over Ontario's TikTok Fans

As the U.S. considers banning TikTok, Ontario users are fleeing to RedNote, a Chinese app known as Xiaohongshu or "Little Red Book." RedNote, which combines elements of Instagram and Pinterest, focuses on lifestyle content and has recently become the number one free app on iPhone. The trend is being considered as a form of protest against the ban. Users are showing resistance to the efforts of limiting Chinese-owned platforms. The app is creating cross-cultural exchange with native users helping out the newcomers. Other Chinese-owned apps such as Lemon8, Clapper, and Flip are also becoming popular as the TikTok ban is looming over them.
