Sacred Stays: Delhi’s Gaushalas Moo-ve Onto the Tourism Map

A New Chapter for Gaushalas
The Minister of Development and Tourism of Delhi, Kapil Mishra, has launched plans to incorporate gaushalas within the tourism industry with a view to supporting religious tourism and bringing their cultural value to the fore. The plan was launched during his tour to Shri Krishna Gaushala in Sultanpur Dabas, Bawana, on World Environment Day.

Government's Vision for Gaushalas
Delhi Government is to modernize gaushalas and equip them to become self-sufficient.

A Gau Seva Commission will be formed to provide systematic care to stray cattle.

The government has released Rs 10 crore to settle dues pending, and another Rs 11.14 crore is to follow.

Major Developments in Gaushala Administration
Lease terms for gaushala land will be extended to ensure long-term stability.

Financial support for cattle feed will rise by Rs 20 per cow.

Gaushalas will be permitted to sell milk, ghee, and paneer, ensuring their economic viability.

Environmental & Cultural Significance
Mishra highlighted that cattle have a very important role to play in environmental conservation.

Gaushalas are not shelters alone but are representative of India's cultural and ecological heritage.

The program is part of wider initiatives protecting and preserving traditional practices.

The Road Ahead
With the Delhi Government's initiative, gaushalas will become a part of religious tourism with tourists given a different cultural experience. This is likely to enhance awareness, enhance cattle care, and generate sustainable revenues for gaushala operators.
