Saket Building Collapse Claims Six Lives As FIR Filed And Engineers Suspended

The Incident

On Saturday evening, a five-to-seven-storey commercial building collapsed suddenly in Saket, reducing the structure to rubble. The building housed a coaching institute, cafes, and offices, with construction reportedly underway on its upper floor at the time of the collapse.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) received an emergency call at 7:40 PM, and rescue teams were immediately dispatched.

FIR And Accountability

An FIR has been registered under sections including culpable homicide, and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered. The MCD suspended Assistant Engineer Sudesh Singh Chouhan and Junior Engineer Aman Jain for dereliction of duty and lack of supervision.

CCTV footage revealed that moments before the collapse, stones and bricks began falling, prompting a student to record the scene. Within seconds, the building came crashing down, engulfing the area in dust and panic.
