Unlike its competitors who primarily export from India, SAMIL's "globally local" manufacturing strategy has proven prescient amid mounting trade tensions. With significant manufacturing presence in Alabama, USA, the company can continue supplying domestic automakers directly within the US market, effectively bypassing the tariff impact that has sent shockwaves through the industry.

"Our globally local strategy ensures that we have manufacturing facilities close to customers, reducing exposure to external trade disruptions," noted SAMIL's director Laksh Vaaman Sehgal during a recent earnings call.

Comparative Advantage Over Peers

While Sona BLW and Bharat Forge face steep challenges with 43% and 38% of their respective revenues derived from US exports produced in India, SAMIL's localized production capabilities provide crucial insulation. Market analysts confirm that SAMIL faces "relatively lower impact" compared to its Indian counterparts.

Strong Financial Performance Despite Market Volatility

Despite recent share price volatility, SAMIL's fundamentals remain robust. The company reported a 20% year-on-year increase in profit after tax to ₹879 crore for Q3 FY25, with revenue rising 7.88% to ₹27,666 crore, demonstrating the resilience of its diversified business model even amid declining global automotive production.

Strategic Expansion Continues

The company isn't resting on its laurels. Recent acquisitions of Japan-based Atsumitec and Brazilian auto component maker Baldi Auto enhance SAMIL's global footprint, while its expansion into consumer electronics with one operational plant and two more planned by FY27 signals commitment to diversification beyond automotive.
