Sarojini Naidu: Beyond Poetry—Trailblazer in India's Freedom Movement

Sarojini Naidu, born on February 13, 1879, in Hyderabad, was a distinguished poet and a pivotal figure in India's struggle for independence. Known as the "Nightingale of India" for her lyrical poetry, she became the first Indian woman to preside over the Indian National Congress in 1925. Following India's independence, Naidu was appointed as the inaugural female Governor of the United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh) on August 15, 1947, a position she held until her death on March 2, 1949. Her legacy as a poet, political leader, and advocate for civil rights continues to inspire generations.
