China, Iran, and Russia are set to launch the "Security Belt-2025" trilateral joint military drill on March 11 off Iran's Chabahar Port in the northern Indian Ocean. The drill aims to boost maritime security, promote military trust, and strengthen trilateral cooperation among the participating countries. Some of the key operations will include targeting maritime targets, damage control, and joint search-and-rescue missions. China will be sending its powerful Type 052D guided-missile destroyer Baotou with a resupply ship, while Russia and Iran will provide warships as well as logistics vessels. Observer countries from around the world like South Africa, UAE, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are set to join the exercise. This is the fifth of these cooperation since 2019, showing greater strategic coordination among the three nations in the wake of rising tensions with the U.S. The exercise reflects their shared interest in resisting Western influence on important global shipping routes.
