Sky High by 2027: UAE’s Air Taxi Dream Takes Flight

The UAE is gearing up to launch a nationwide air taxi service by 2027, marking a bold leap into futuristic urban mobility. Spearheaded by Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA), the initiative partners with Joby Aviation and Skyports Infrastructure to connect key emirates via electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Key highlights of the initiative:

1. Ras Al Khaimah will link with Dubai in under 15 minutes, slashing road travel time dramatically.
2. Joby Aviation will operate zero-emission aircraft with speeds up to 321 kph, carrying four passengers and a pilot.
3. Skyports will build vertiports, starting with a hub on Al Marjan Island.
4. RAKTA will oversee regulation and integration into the broader transport network.
5. The project supports the UAE’s 2030 Comprehensive Mobility Plan and its sustainability goals.

This move positions the UAE as a global leader in advanced air mobility.
