South Indian Blockbusters Take Over Hindi Box Office, Driving 31% of Earnings

In a significant shift in the Indian film landscape, dubbed South Indian films accounted for 31% of Hindi cinema's earnings in 2024, as reported by Ormax Media. This trend contributed to Hindi cinema's total revenue of ₹4,679 crore, marking a decline from the previous year. The overall box office for Indian cinema reached ₹11,833 crore, making it the second-highest year ever. The dominance of regional films shows changing audience preferences and the growing importance of dubbed content in the Hindi market.
