Squash Shock: Player Exodus Hits U-23 World Championship

The inaugural Under-23 World Squash Championship, set to begin at Creek Club in Karachi, Pakistan, has faced a significant setback as 10 players have withdrawn from the tournament. Initially, 64 participants were announced by the World Squash Federation, but the latest draws reveal only 54 entries across the men's and women's events.

Notable withdrawals include Zhou Penglin, Wasey Maqsood, Jason Sano Herring, Jassim Adel Al Ghareeb, Arhan Chandra, Zhang Guanyu, Mohammed Nasser, Laouenan Loaec, and Tam Tsz Shing. The championship has already been marred by controversy, with the Punjab Squash Association accusing the Pakistan Squash Federation of favoritism in allotting hosting rights to the Sindh Squash Association. Despite the challenges, the event marks a historic moment for Pakistan, hosting its first major squash tournament in decades.

The championship features players from 32 countries and offers a $60,000 prize pool, with winners earning spots in the PSA World Championships.
