Stallion India Fluorochemicals Ltd has signed an MoU with the Rajasthan government to build a new refrigerant gas manufacturing plant in Bhilwara district. The project involves an investment of around ₹120 crore and is part of the company’s push to expand domestic production of next-generation cooling gases.
What the Plant Will Produce
The facility will mainly produce R-32 refrigerant — widely used in air conditioners for being more energy-efficient and having lower global warming potential compared to older refrigerants. It will also manufacture other advanced blends like R-410A, R-404A, R-407C, R-454B, R-515B, and R-513A to cater to both industrial and commercial needs.
Production is expected to start in 2026, and the project will create around 30 direct jobs, with additional indirect opportunities through local suppliers and service providers.
Why It Matters
Refrigerants are a critical part of the cooling industry, from household ACs to large industrial chillers. With rising demand in India — driven by urban growth, higher appliance use, and automotive AC systems — having local production reduces reliance on imports and helps secure supply chains.
Environmentally, R-32 and other next-gen refrigerants are in line with global regulations pushing for greener alternatives. For Stallion, this move strengthens its portfolio in an increasingly competitive market while giving it a foothold in high-demand product segments.
Government Backing
The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) is helping with land acquisition and project clearances. This kind of support is meant to ensure quick setup and smooth operations — and reflects the state’s ongoing focus on bringing in industries that support economic and job growth.
The Bigger Picture
Stallion already operates plants for blending and packaging refrigerants, but this new site will boost its capacity for manufacturing from the ground up. In a broader sense, it’s part of the company’s plan to be a leading domestic supplier of fluorochemicals for markets such as automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and air conditioning.
Globally, the refrigerant industry is shifting because of climate agreements and efficiency standards. By investing in R-32 capacity now, Stallion is positioning itself ahead of stricter environmental rules that are likely to come into force in more countries.
Local Impact
Beyond direct employment, the Bhilwara plant is expected to spur business for local contractors, equipment suppliers, and logistics providers. It also opens possibilities for skill development in handling and working with advanced industrial gases.
Looking Ahead
If things go as planned, Stallion could become a significant player in India’s green refrigerants market over the next few years. With production starting in 2026, the plant could serve both domestic customers and international exports, especially to regions looking for affordable but eco-friendly cooling solutions.
