Stampede at New Delhi Railway Station: Eyewitness Recounts Chaos

A devastating stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday night claimed 18 lives, including 4 children, and left dozens injured. Eyewitness IAF Sergeant Ajit described the scene as an uncontrollable surge of people, stating, "The administration was working hard to prevent any mishap, but no one was listening." The incident occurred around 10 pm when an overwhelming crowd gathered for trains to the Maha Kumbh festival. Authorities have formed a high-level committee to investigate the cause. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed distress and assured assistance to those affected. The Railways has deployed special trains to evacuate stranded passengers.
