Stars Align for India's Space Sector: $44 Billion Boom on the Horizon

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has stated that India's space sector is ready to exploit exponential growth, with estimates suggesting such expansion to rise from $8 billion to $44 billion in the coming years. Factors responsible for fivefold expansion include the government initiatives like NSIL and In-SPACe which enable collaboration between public and private sectors. Truly, space budget has grown tremendously almost tripling from ₹5,615 crore in 2013-14 to ₹13,416 crore in 2025-2026. India has been quick to display its space talents, most recently by the completion of the Chandrayaan mission and the launch of 433 foreign satellites. The country has also fixed some ambitious goals, including Gaganyaan-the ambitious human space mission-and plans to develop the Bharat Antariksh Station by 2035.
