Starship Spins Out! SpaceX Loses Contact in High-Stakes Test Flight

On Thursday, SpaceX conducted its eighth Starship test flight in Texas. The launch got underway nicely, and the 403-foot rocket shot upwards as designed. However, some eight minutes later, the spacecraft lost control and communication was lost. The Starship collapsed freely in space, disintegrating before releasing its mock satellite payload. Pieces were seen across south Florida and the Bahamas. This accident is the second consecutive failure of SpaceX's Starship program this year, which is challenging the company's ambitions for rapid development for missions to the Moon and Mars.
