Syngene Buys First US Biologics Plant for $36.5 Million

Syngene International has purchased its first US biologics manufacturing facility for $36.5m. The Baltimore facility has been acquired from Emergent Manufacturing Operations Baltimore, a part of Emergent BioSolutions. This acquisition expands Syngene's global footprint in biologics and doubles its single-use bioreactor capacity to 50,000 liters of large molecule discovery and manufacturing services. The acquisition is to add strength to Syngene's product offerings in both human and animal health segments, ensuring continuity of supply from its India and North America facilities. The overall investment, including operational expenses, is estimated at $50 million, with the plant expected to be operational by the second half of 2025.
