The Actress Who Rejected Raj Kapoor and Left a Lasting Legacy

Suchitra Sen, the famous Bengali actress, famously turned down Raj Kapoor's request to act in his movie. She accused him of discomfort with his behavior, saying, "I did not like his personality. The way he behaved – sitting near my foot – did not befit a man." Sen was a selective actress, and she acted in both Bengali and Hindi films. Her most prominent Hindi film was "Aandhi," which was said to be about Indira Gandhi. Sen's working life lasted from the 1950s to the 1970s, after which she withdrew from public life, reminding one of Greta Garbo.
