T-Series, Saregama, and Sony Music are moving to join a copyright lawsuit against OpenAI in India, claiming unauthorized use of their sound recordings to train AI models. The action comes amid a wider trend of copyright holders suing AI firms across the world. The lawsuit, originally brought by news agency ANI, raises concerns over the ability of AI to copy copyrighted material without payment. OpenAI maintains that it respects fair-use tenets, but the lawsuit might establish a precedent for copyright and AI in India and internationally.
