The Pride Grows: Madhav National Park to Become Madhya Pradesh's Ninth Tiger Sanctuary

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that Shivpuri district's Madhav National Park will be declared the ninth tiger reserve of Madhya Pradesh soon. The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has already given in-principle approval for this. The new reserve will cover 1,751 square kilometers, comprising a 375-square-kilometer core and a 1,276-square-kilometer buffer zone. CM Yadav has plans to introduce a couple of tigers to the park in the near future, making Madhya Pradesh the 'Tiger State' once again. The conservation effort is likely to boost ecotourism in Chambal, generating employment opportunities for the youth. The park has recently received tiger cubs, which is an important milestone towards its restoration process.
