The Snowy Spell: Kashmir Valley Under a Blanket of White

The Kashmir Valley received fresh snow on Saturday as most places, even the plains, got substantial snowfall. Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and Pulwama districts received snowfall, and known destinations like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam also got snow. Some areas in the Valley received light to moderate rains. The Meteorological Department has predicted occasional spells of light to moderate rains and snow in higher reaches, with improvement by Sunday afternoon. A 'yellow alert' has been issued due to the weather, warning of possible disruptions and caution in avalanche-prone regions. Schools in Gurez were shut till March 15 owing to heavy snowfall and avalanche risks.
