Tiny Wings, Big Impact: PIB's Sparrow Revival Plan Takes Flight

Today, on World Sparrow Day 2025, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has made a heartwarming announcement appealing to citizens to introduce sparrows back into our lives. This annual event, which falls on March 20th, is to make people aware of the rate at which sparrows are declining due to urbanization, pollution, and loss of habitats. The PIB is stressing the fact that small gestures can go a long way in conserving sparrows. These are planting greens, minimizing the consumption of pesticides, and providing nesting sites. The announcement mentions the success of the grassroots movement across India, with organizations like the Koodugal Trust in Chennai, which has engaged schoolchildren in constructing more than 10,000 sparrow nests between 2020 and 2024. The message of the government focuses on the role played by these small birds in keeping the ecosystem in balance and appeals to all citizens to join the movement.
