Tracks to Tomorrow: Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Nears Full Throttle with Final Stretch Ready

Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat RRTS corridor reaches a significant milestone as track laying is completed at Modipuram—the terminal station on the 82-km high-speed route. National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) confirmed that Modipuram station, which includes three platforms (two for Namo Bharat trains and one for future Meerut Metro), is now structurally ready, with completion work such as roofing and fittings in progress. The station also features a new foot overbridge for unobstructed highway and platform connectivity, and eight staircases, eight escalators, and six lifts for the convenience of passengers.

 

With this, the last 17-km phase of the corridor in Meerut—between Shatabdi Nagar and Modipuram—is gearing up for trial runs, slated to commence in early May. It will set the stage for full-fledged operations by the projected June 2025 deadline. The ₹30,274-crore corridor will connect 24 stations and reduce Delhi-Meerut travel time to a mere 55 minutes, with high-speed Namo Bharat trains and Meerut Metro running on the same tracks for the first time in India.

 

Now, 11 stations are already operational from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, and the Delhi stretch up to Sarai Kale Khan is also close to completion. After full launch, the corridor will carry as many as eight lakh daily commuters, transforming regional connectivity and urban mobility in the NCR.
