Trade Trumps Trump: Congress Fires Back at PM Modi

The Congress party condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over proposed reciprocal tariffs of former US President Donald Trump, asking him to remind Trump that the "T in WTO stands for Trade, not Trump." Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated that such a move goes against basic international trade principles. The opposition expressed apprehension about shielding domestic farmers and MSMEs from rising US imports and competition. This follows Trump's recent threat to equalize import tax rates with other countries, which could generate economic tensions.
