Uber for Teens Debuts in India, Offering Safe and Reliable Rides for Teenagers

Uber has officially launched its "Uber for Teens" service in India, catering to teenagers aged 13 to 17 years. This innovative offering aims to address the unique transportation challenges faced by teenagers and their families, ensuring safety, convenience, and independence for young commuters.  

The service is now available across 37 cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Built around stringent safety protocols, "Uber for Teens" includes features such as GPS tracking, real-time ride monitoring, and an in-app emergency button. These measures provide peace of mind for parents while empowering teens with greater mobility.  

Parents or guardians with a verified Uber account can invite their teens to join the app. Once the teen sets up their account and links it to their parent’s account, they can start booking rides. Parents receive notifications, live tracking updates, and detailed ride summaries, ensuring complete transparency and control. Additionally, parents can request rides on behalf of their teens if needed.  

This service, first introduced in the US in 2023 and later expanded to over 50 countries, has been tailored to meet the needs of Indian families. According to a consumer survey conducted by Uber, 92% of parents reported challenges in arranging reliable transportation for their teens, with safety being the top concern for 72% of respondents. "Uber for Teens" addresses these issues by offering a dependable and secure ride-hailing solution.
