UK Puts Brakes on Auto Collusion with $100M Recycling Fine

The penalty comes after these entities admitted to breaching competition laws related to vehicle recycling practices.

The CMA revealed that the manufacturers had unlawfully coordinated to avoid competing in promoting the recyclability of their vehicles. This anti-competitive behavior involved suppressing transparency about the percentage of recycled materials used in new cars and agreeing not to compensate car dismantlers for processing end-of-life vehicles. Such practices undermined efforts to enhance environmental sustainability in the automotive sector.
