Unleashing the Power: Women's Rights Take Center Stage

With International Women's Day coming up on March 8, 2025, the world women's rights movement is witnessing a renewed wave. The year is also the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a milestone agreement on women's rights. The theme "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment" reflects the urgency to act in order to achieve gender equality. Although there is progress, issues remain, such as violence against women, lack of representation in leadership, and the effects of climate change. Activists across the globe are rallying to drive progress faster, with emphasis on youth participation and tackling new challenges such as digital rights. The movement seeks to realize the promise of equality this generation.
