WCA Makes Appeal for Effective Industry Action

The World Coal Association (WCA) has made an appeal for more effective industry action on how to tackle climate change and sustainable development issues. The institution calls for the acceleration of the use of clean coal technology, energy efficiency, and investments in carbon capture and storage technology by the producers and consumers of coal. WCA encourages its members to adopt ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets and cooperate with governments and other actors to shape policies that promote a fair transition to a low-carbon future. The association also emphasizes the necessity to balance energy security, economic development, and environmental concerns, especially in emerging economies that continue to be heavily dependent on coal.
