Yamuna's Cleaning Drive in Delhi: PM Modi's Pre-election Promise Now in Action

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has unveiled a four-pronged strategy to clean the Yamuna River over the next three years. This initiative follows the BJP's recent victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi made cleaning the Yamuna a key campaign promise. The plan includes removing waste from the riverbed, cleaning major drains, monitoring sewage treatment plants, and constructing new ones. Specialized machines have already been deployed in the river. The project aims to address the treatment deficit of approximately 400 million gallons per day and will involve coordination among multiple agencies. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has been tasked with strict monitoring of industrial units to prevent untreated waste discharge.
