Zydus Lifesciences Pushes Back Sterling Biotech Deal Closure to September 2025

Zydus Lifesciences has extended again the deadline for completing its acquisition of Sterling Biotech's API business to September 30, 2025. This is a major postponement from the earlier extended date of March 31, 2025. The ₹84 crore transaction, which was announced in September 2024, is intended to add fermentation-based API strength to Zydus's portfolio. The extension follows as Sterling Biotech is still busy working on satisfying some conditions precedent to the Business Transfer Agreement. This extended timeline is indicative of the intricacies involved in the deal and that of Zydus's to see that Sterling's API business integrates seamlessly into its operations.
