A Symphony of Success: Shreya Ghoshal's Musical Legacy

Shreya Ghoshal, India's most celebrated playback singer, turned a year older on March 12, another milestone in her long and illustrious career. Born in West Bengal's Berhampore and brought up in Rajasthan's Rawatbhata, Ghoshal started learning music at four and then began classical training from the age of six. Her breakthrough role was when she won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa reality TV show at 16, followed by her acting debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas in 2002. The debut won her the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer.

 

Ghoshal has emerged a household name in the past decades, owing to her versatility and extensive vocal range. She has sung for a plethora of movies, including Singh Is Kinng, Aashiqui 2, Bajirao Mastani, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. She has sung hit numbers such as "Teri Ore," "Sun Raha Hai Na Tu," "Deewani Mastani," and "Saans." Ghoshal has been rewarded with numerous awards, such as five National Film Awards, seven Filmfare Awards, and ten IIFA Awards.

 

Ghoshal's fame transcends the boundaries of India, with the U.S. State of Ohio announcing June 26 as Shreya Ghoshal Day. She continues to inspire young singers all over the world with her sweet voice and long-lasting mark on the music world.
