Aadhaar Facilitates Jio's Massive Customer Acquisition: Infosys Chief

Infosys chairman and co-founder Nandan Nilekani showcased how Reliance Jio utilized Aadhaar to acquire huge numbers of users within 170 days, crossing the 100-million mark. At the fireside chat held on the occasion of the 69th AIMA Foundation Day, Nilekani underscored the importance of Aadhaar in ensuring protection from digital fraud as well as deepfake scams. He also talked about India's AI future, observing that while productivity will be improved by AI, it won't substitute for human capabilities such as empathy, leadership, and creativity. Adoption of Aadhaar has greatly eased Jio's onboarding of customers, and eKYC activation can now be done in 15 minutes at Jio stores.
