Akhilesh Yadav Questions if UP Government Aims to Achieve $1 Trillion Economy Through Maha Kumbh

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has attacked the government of Uttar Pradesh, wondering if it plans to realize its vision of a USD 1 trillion economy via the Maha Kumbh. The comments by Yadav have come on a backdrop of criticism of the priorities of the government and the arrangements for the event. He faulted the BJP government for giving more importance to self-publicity than ensuring pilgrims get proper facilities, alleging that local businessmen have lost money despite assurances of heavy business generation.

Yadav also attacked the government's promise of a $1 trillion economy in four years as unrealistic and a "big lie," referring to unemployment and fear among farmers and industrialists. He also attacked the government for wasting money on PR and failing to report correct death tolls following a stampede on Mauni Amavasya during the Maha Kumbh.
