Amarnath Yatra 2025: J&K Goes All Out for Pilgrim Safety-Biggest Security Push Ever

In the wake of a challenging summer for tourism, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has shifted its entire focus to ensuring a safe, smooth, and incident-free Amarnath Yatra, set to begin on July 3 and conclude on August 9. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has emphasized that the government’s top priority is the safety of pilgrims, especially after the recent Pahalgam attack severely impacted the region’s tourism sector.

Preparations are in full swing across the Union Territory. District officials, including those in Samba, have been tasked with reviewing and enhancing facilities such as lodgment centers, drinking water, power supply, sanitation, health services, and traffic management. Digital screens, banners, and directional signboards are being installed to improve information flow and ensure that pilgrims receive timely guidance throughout their journey.

The administration has also reaffirmed the status of peace along the Line of Control, with no recent ceasefire violations reported. Damage assessment and compensation for those affected by past cross-border shelling are underway, with support from the central government anticipated.

More than 3.5 lakh devotees have already registered for the 52-day pilgrimage, underscoring the need for robust arrangements. The Chief Minister has assured that only after the successful completion of the yatra will the government turn its attention back to reviving the tourism sector.
