Ambala’s New Lane Fame: NHAI Drops ₹30 Cr to Keep Traffic in the Fast Lane

Project Overview

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started building a new service lane on the Ambala Cantonment railway overbridge (ROB).

The ₹30 crore project is intended to decongest GT Road and enhance local connectivity.

The service lane will enable commuters to pass through the overbridge without joining the main highway, easing bottlenecks.

Key Infrastructure Upgrades

There will be construction of a new service lane for traffic going from Delhi to Ambala Cantonment, going beyond the Padav police station.

One more lane will be constructed above the railway line and linked with the existing service lane going towards Shastri Colony.

These additions will allow local traffic to bypass GT Road and make transit smoother.

Government's Push for Timely Completion

Haryana Transport, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij ordered the officials of NHAI to hasten the project.

The piling process has already been initiated near the railway overbridge with a timeframe of around 1.5 years for completion.

The minister further ordered that connecting road from Railway Colony under the ROB should be constructed to normal specifications.

Impact on Commuters

The new service lanes will substantially alleviate congestion, gaining advantage for daily commuters as well as commercial transport.

Enhanced road infrastructure is likely to improve safety and simplify traffic flow in the area.
