Andhra Pradesh Revolutionizes Nursing Education with Common Entrance Test

In a groundbreaking move, Andhra Pradesh has announced the introduction of a Common Entrance Test (CET) for nursing courses, starting from the 2025-26 academic year. This initiative aims to streamline the admission process and elevate the quality of nursing education across the state, making Andhra Pradesh the first in India to implement such a system for nursing programs.  

The CET will be conducted annually in the second week of June, with the admission process commencing in April and concluding by July, replacing the previous November timeline. This shift ensures a more efficient academic calendar and timely commencement of courses. The state government has also decided to establish a legally recognized Board of Examinations to oversee the CET-based admissions for both BSc Nursing and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) courses.  

The decision comes after extensive discussions with representatives from nursing colleges, who welcomed the move as a step toward resolving operational challenges. The government has also committed to reviewing the current fee structure to ensure institutions can maintain high standards of education without financial constraints.  

This initiative underscores Andhra Pradesh's commitment to fostering a robust healthcare workforce by creating a transparent and merit-based admission system for aspiring nurses.
