Apple Breaks into India's Top 5 Smartphone Brands Amid Slowing Premiumization

India's smartphone market grew 4% in 2024, reaching 151 million units shipped. Despite a slowdown in premium device sales, Apple made history by entering India's top 5 smartphone brands for the first time. The tech giant secured a 10% market share in Q4 2024, shipping a record 12 million iPhones throughout the year. This 35% year-over-year growth propelled India to become Apple's fourth-largest market globally. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 13 were the most popular models, contributing to 6% of overall quarterly shipments. However, market growth in 2025 is expected to hinge on stronger performance in the mass and entry-premium segments.
