Apple’s Next Chapter: Foxconn’s Devanahalli Plant Set to Dial Up iPhone Exports Starting June

Foxconn's new behemoth plant at Devanahalli, near Bengaluru, will start commercial export of iPhones by as soon as June, Karnataka Industries Minister M.B. Patil has said on Saturday. This is a key milestone for India's electronics manufacturing sector as Apple accelerates the movement of iPhone manufacturing to India following global supply chain realignments.

The ₹21,911 crore Devanahalli facility, covering 300 acres in the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), is nearing completion for launch. The move, according to Minister Patil, is not just a manufacturing milestone but a "strategic shift" since India is set to become Apple's first choice of production hub in the wake of escalating geopolitical and tariff pressures.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that during the June quarter, most of the iPhones sold in the United States would be made in India. The government of Karnataka has also provided incentives worth ₹6,970 crore to facilitate the project under its Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) policy.

Foxconn's Devanahalli plant will create tens of thousands of jobs and solidify Karnataka as a production base for the world. The plant is a result of Apple and its production partners accelerating investments in India as a diversification from China and access to the country's growing electronics ecosystem.
