ASCI and Gaming Industry Sign MoU to Tackle Illegal Offshore Betting Ads

The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has partnered with key online gaming federations to combat illegal offshore betting advertisements. Effective January 2, 2025, ASCI signed an MoU with the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports, All India Gaming Federation, and E-Gaming Federation. A special monitoring cell has been established to screen and report illegal ads to relevant authorities. Since January, ASCI has flagged 413 offshore betting ads to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The initiative aims to protect consumers, foster ethical advertising, and strengthen compliance within the real-money gaming industry. Industry leaders have expressed support for this collaborative effort to create a safer gaming environment in India.
