Auto Industry in Neutral Gear: Maruti Suzuki Forecasts Modest Growth for FY26

Maruti Suzuki, the leader in India's auto industry, is being tactfully optimistic about the industry growth in FY26. The company does not see high growth for the overall industry in this period, a senior executive said. This is consistent with general industry expectations, as big players such as Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai project passenger vehicle sales to increase by a mere 1-1.5% in FY26. The subdued growth projection is due to macroeconomic uncertainties and a high base effect of past years. Yet, the SUV segment will be growth-driving with an expected rise of about 8%. Maruti Suzuki is banking on new model launches and exports to support its market standing.
