Bangalore Becomes Chip Hub: Applied Materials Invests $400M in New Center

Applied Materials, a top semiconductor equipment provider, has revealed plans to open a cutting-edge joint engineering center in Bangalore, India. The $400 million center, which will open close to the company's current campus, will be dedicated to developing and bringing to market technologies for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Anticipated to generate 500 high-tech engineering positions and up to 2,500 more jobs in the manufacturing value chain, the center is expected to drive innovation by consolidating Applied's engineers, suppliers, and educational institutions. The move underscores India's increasing significance in the international semiconductor market and Applied Materials' pledge to develop local talent and capabilities.
