Bengaluru–Mumbai Superfast Train To Cut Travel Time, Boost Regional Connectivity By June-End

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi confirmed after discussions with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw that the Bengaluru–Mumbai superfast train will begin operations by June-end. The service has been a long-standing demand from passengers and is expected to significantly improve travel convenience for business, education, and tourism.

Train Route And Stops

The train will run from Bengaluru to Mumbai via central Karnataka, covering major stops including:

Tumakuru

Davanagere

Haveri

Hubballi-Dharwad

Belagavi

This route strengthens connectivity between northern and southern Karnataka while linking directly to Mumbai, India’s commercial hub.

Benefits For Passengers

The new service is expected to reduce travel time from over 20 hours to 14–16 hours, offering a faster alternative to existing trains and expensive flights. With 16 air-conditioned coaches, including sleeper berths, the train promises enhanced comfort for long-distance travel. Advanced suspension technology will ensure smoother journeys.

Regional Impact

The train will provide relief to passengers from tier-2 and tier-3 cities along the route, improving access to major urban centers. It is also expected to ease congestion on existing rail services and strengthen economic and social linkages between Karnataka and Maharashtra.
