From One Launch To Many Targets: India Successfully Tests Advanced Agni Missile With MIRV

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) confirmed the successful flight trial of the Advanced Agni missile. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Army, and industry partners, calling the achievement a significant milestone in strengthening India’s defence preparedness.

What Makes This Test Significant

MIRV technology allows a single missile to deploy multiple warheads, each independently directed to separate targets. This capability enhances India’s strategic strike arsenal, enabling deterrence against evolving regional and global threats. The test validates India’s ability to engage multiple strategic locations simultaneously.

Technical Details

Telemetry and tracking were conducted by a network of ground-based radars and ship-based stations, monitoring the missile’s trajectory from launch to impact. Flight data confirmed that all mission objectives were met. The missile was indigenously developed by DRDO laboratories with support from Indian defence industries, aligning with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.

Strategic Context

This test follows India’s earlier MIRV demonstration under Mission Divyastra in 2024. With the latest success, India joins a select group of nations capable of deploying MIRV technology, reinforcing its position in global strategic defence.
