ICAI’s MSME Manthan Meet Tackles Grassroots Barriers, Builds Strategies For Sustainable Growth

Held on May 8–9, 2026, the ICAI-DFO Stakeholders Residential Meet addressed the evolving needs of MSMEs and startups. The program emphasized policy reforms, financial inclusion, and innovation to empower small businesses, which contribute nearly 30% to India’s GDP and employ over 110 million people.

Grassroots Challenges

Sessions such as MSME Samvad highlighted issues like limited market access, technology adoption gaps, and financial sustainability. Stakeholders discussed how complex compliance requirements and restricted access to formal credit continue to hinder MSME growth and competitiveness.

Strategic Interventions

ICAI proposed simplified compliance frameworks, digital accounting tools, and skill development programs to help MSMEs adapt to changing economic conditions. Technical sessions on project evaluation provided practical insights into improving access to credit and investment. The meet also guided enterprises on aligning business structures with government regulations and incentive schemes.

Collaborative Platform

The event served as a collaborative forum with participation from NSIC, GeM, KVIC, Laghu Udyog Bharati, and industry associations. ICAI emphasized its ongoing role in supporting MSMEs, citing past initiatives like the MSME Mahotsav 2025, which supported nearly 20,000 enterprises in a single day.

ICAI stressed that strengthening MSMEs is crucial for India’s vision of self-reliance and sustainable development. The strategies aim to make MSMEs globally competitive while encouraging innovation and resilience at the grassroots level.
