BHEL-Hitachi Energy Consortium Secures Major Contract for 6000 MW HVDC Terminal Station

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), in collaboration with Hitachi Energy India, has signed a contract with Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Ltd for the development of a 6000 MW High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) terminal station. This agreement is a crucial component of the Bhadla-Fatehpur renewable energy transmission project, aimed at efficiently evacuating power generated in Rajasthan’s Renewable Energy Zone.

The project involves the establishment of two HVDC Line-Commutated Converter (LCC) terminal stations at Bhadla in Rajasthan and Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, along with an ±800 kV HVDC transmission link and associated AC substations. The consortium’s expertise in HVDC technology will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless power transmission over long distances, reinforcing India’s commitment to clean energy infrastructure.
