Books, Brains, and Bureaucracy: Manmohan Singh's Name to Grace Bengaluru's Academic Skyline

In a major announcement made during the Karnataka state budget presentation, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah disclosed that Bengaluru City University will be renamed as Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University. The step is meant as an homage to the late prime minister's legacy and contributions to the country. The initiative to rename includes the prospect of merging Government Arts College and Government RC College into the university as constituent colleges. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar underscored this was part of a larger attempt to recognize Dr. Singh's contribution towards rural employment and economic reforms. The institution will become a model university for the entire country, making it the first academic entity in India to be named after Manmohan Singh.
