Breaking Records: 5 Million Indians Hold US Visas as Applications Skyrocket by 60%

This is a significant development, as outgoing US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said over five million Indians currently hold American visas, and the issuance rate has gone up by more than 60% since his appointment. The increase in numbers mostly comprises of students, business professionals and tourists. It marks the second successive year when the US issued over a million non-immigrant visas, including a record number of visitor visas. This growth indicates the growing role of India as a source country for international students and travelers coming to the US. The growth thus reflects strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
