BRICS vs. Trump: The Battle for Economic Supremacy Intensifies

In a recent comment, US President Donald Trump said that BRICS has "fallen out", nearly throwing 150% taxes on the member state countries-citing it as with a perception to undermine the US dollar. Trump claimed he has not heard from BRICS lately which insinuates the break-up of the group. However, BRICS still stands as an active intergovernmental organization with 10 member states definitely, including India. Trump's repeated ominous warnings against BRICS creating an alternative currency to the dollar are increasing frictions. However, in light of these allegations, BRICS remains in its fight for a dollar-free international trade. India- as a key member of BRICS- must remain highly wary of the economic implications arising should Trump's tariff threat materialize.
